As students at local Michigan universities, we became involved with Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) and were both challenged by the words of Christ:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matt 9:37).
We sensed the Lord calling us to be those workers to “Go and make disciples of all nations” and to help fulfill the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20). Taking a step of faith, now as a family of 5, we are committed to go and bring the hope of the Gospel to Japan
Our hearts are burdened by the reality that the Japanese are the second largest unreached people group in the world (less than 1% are Christian). And, many of the current Pastors and Missionaries are retiring with no one to take their place in ministry.
We long for the day when those in Japan no longer wear traditional religion as a cultural identity or obligation, but rather enter into a life-changing, passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.
So many things compete for the hearts and minds of the Japanese. Our goal is to give everyone the chance to be influenced by Christ, to believe in His gracious sacrifice and love for them, and to be transformed by the Gospel. We desire to see a new generation of Japanese leaders raised up in order to spark spiritual movements across the country so that every person in Japan has the chance to say yes to Christ!
We are honored to minister there alongside local churches and fellow missionaries. We can’t wait to see God’s promise fulfilled and one day join people from every tongue, tribe, and nation bowing down before God’s throne in heaven.
